How School Straits collects, uses and protects information on this platform and in its mobile apps.

School Straits provides school management software used by schools and their staff, students and guardians, on the web and through Android and iOS apps. This policy explains what information the platform collects, why, and how you can ask for it to be removed. Your school administers its own records on School Straits and is responsible for the accounts it creates and the people it invites to use them; School Straits processes that information on the school's behalf, as its software provider.
What is collected depends on your role at the school. It can include:
Information is used to operate the features you and your school use — attendance, fees, homework, messaging, transport tracking and the rest — to manage accounts and sign-in, and to send service notifications such as a fee reminder or a homework alert. School Straits does not run advertising, does not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, and does not sell personal information to anyone.
Information is shared outside the school only where a feature requires it. When you pay a fee in-app, your contact name, email address, mobile number and the amount due are passed to Razorpay, our payment gateway, so it can process the payment; School Straits does not otherwise share personal information with third parties, and does not share it for advertising or marketing purposes.
Records are kept for as long as your school's account with School Straits is active, so that academic and financial history remains available to the school. When a school's subscription ends, or when a specific record is deleted at the school's request, the underlying data is removed from active use within a reasonable period, subject to any copy retained briefly in backups for disaster recovery.
Because your school administers your account, the most direct way to have your data corrected or removed is to ask your school's administrator, who can update or delete your records directly. If you would prefer to contact us instead, email [email protected] with your name, your school, and what you would like removed, and we will pass the request to your school or action it directly. We aim to complete a deletion request within 30 days.
Much of the information on this platform concerns students, including children under 18. That information is entered and managed by the school, under the school's own policies and with parental or guardian consent obtained by the school, and is used only for the purposes of running the school — never for advertising or for any purpose unrelated to a student's education.
Data in transit between your device and School Straits is encrypted (HTTPS). On the mobile apps, sign-in credentials are kept in the device's secure, encrypted storage rather than in plain files.
If this policy changes in a way that materially affects how your information is handled, the "last updated" date above will change and, where appropriate, your school will be notified.
